ACF Fall 2012 at Minnesota

On the first weekend of this month we traveled to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for ACF Fall 2012.  This is the first time we have taken two full teams of four players each to a tournament since the 2007-08 season, and we also brought a volunteer staffer for a total of nine members attending.  This is also the farthest we have travelled for a tournament in several years, even farther than Illinois, where we went for ACF Regionals last year.  The tournament was well-run, and we enjoyed playing against a new group of teams, all of which were good competitors.  The A team went 5-4, which was good for 5th place, while the B team went 1-8, ending up tied for 8th.  (See the next post below for detailed results and info on other tournaments we’ve attended this season.)  While we would have liked to have increased the numbers in the win column a bit, overall we were happy with the way we played, and we definitely had a great time at the tournament.  All this is well and good, but the real reason this tournament gets its own post is that we got some good pictures of the team together.

The first group of pictures are from the final round of the day featuring K-State B (the four on the left) vs. K-State A (the four on the right).  The members competing are, from left to right:  Sam Martin, Zach Arnberger, Brian Hampel, Katie Gentry, Trevor Steiner, Ben Detrixhe, Jason Beets, and Kenny Uphoff.  Mike Uphoff is in the audience.

In the two group pictures with us standing, the order from left to right is: Sam Martin, Trevor Steiner, Brian Hampel, Zach Arnberger, Mike Uphoff, Kenny Uphoff, Jason Beets, Ben Detrixhe, Katie Gentry.

The final picture shows Kenny, Ben, Mike, Jason, Trevor and some of the Minnesota players and tournament volunteers competing in an informal scrimmage after the tournament.
